Child Safety Standards

These standards apply to tandem — vlog together ("Tandem"), the app published on Google Play by Chi Labs and operated by Dadao Chi. Questions about this page: hello@tandemvlog.com.

Our standard

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is prohibited on Tandem without exception. That includes, and is not limited to:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): creating, uploading, storing, sharing, requesting, or linking to it.
• Sexualizing a minor in any form, including through clips, captions, notes, profile photos, display names, or vlog names.
• Grooming, sextortion, or any attempt to build a relationship with a minor for sexual purposes.
• Soliciting, advertising, or facilitating child sexual abuse, child trafficking, or child sex tourism.
• Using Tandem to identify, contact, or reach a child for any of the above.

These rules bind every account, in every vlog, whether the content is shared with five people or one. They are part of our Terms of Service, and breaking them costs you your account.

Minimum age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tandem, and older where local law requires it. Accounts we find to belong to someone under the minimum age are removed.

How the app is built to reduce risk

The safest design is one where strangers cannot reach children in the first place. Tandem is a small-group app, not a social network, and its structure reflects that:

• No public content. Clips are visible only to the members of the vlog they were recorded in. This is enforced on our servers, not just in the app, so a clip cannot be reached by anyone outside that group.
• No feed, no discovery, no recommendations. There is nothing to browse. Tandem never suggests people or content to you, and no one can find you by scrolling.
• Groups are small and closed. A vlog holds up to six people, and you can only enter one if someone already inside gives you its code. Friends are added by exact @handle or a share link, and the other person has to accept.
• No messaging. Tandem has no chat, no direct messages, and no comments. The app records silent two-second video clips, with an optional short note on your own clip and emoji reactions.
• No audio. The app never requests microphone access and captures no sound.
• Blocking. Blocking someone is immediate and mutual: you disappear from each other, including inside any vlog you share.
• Leaving is easy. You can delete your account, and the personal data attached to it, from Settings at any time.

Reporting a concern inside the app

Every person you can see in Tandem can be reported without leaving the app:

• The ··· button on any friend, friend request, or search result.
• Report a member in a vlog's ··· menu.
• The Report · Block row on any member's profile card, reached by tapping their name.
• Individual clips can be reported from the vlog viewer.

You can add a reason in your own words. Reports go straight to our moderation queue. Blocking is offered alongside reporting, as a separate action, so you can cut contact immediately whether or not you file a report.

What we do with a report

We review every report we receive and aim to act within 24 hours. Depending on what we find, we:

• Remove the content. Removal is a real deletion of both the record and the underlying video file, not a hidden flag.
• Terminate the account. A banned account cannot sign in, and its clips stop being visible to everyone else.
• Preserve what the law requires before deletion, so evidence is available to the authorities.
• Report it. Apparent child sexual abuse material is reported to the appropriate authority, including Cybertip.ca (operated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection) in Canada, where Tandem is operated, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where applicable. We cooperate with law enforcement and respond to valid legal requests.

Ordinary moderation decisions can be appealed by writing to us. Terminations for child sexual abuse or exploitation are permanent and are not reinstated.

Legal compliance

We comply with the child-safety laws that apply to us, including Canada's mandatory reporting requirements for internet child pornography, and we act in accordance with the standards published on this page.
